Suboxone Clinic in Nashville
Dr. William F. Conway, MD, MBA, FACP, FASAM
I am a Nashville Suboxone Doctor, in private practice providing Suboxone treatment since 2012. Some patients have remained with me for many years, while others have chosen to discontinue treatment. Those who stay with me often do so because of the benefits of Suboxone and receiving primary care in my Suboxone Clinic. Above all, they stay because of the strength of our relationship. Together, we succeed because we walk together, sharing both the struggles and the quiet victories. I am their companion in the struggle.
Not every patient continues treatment, and there are many reasons for that choice. Some patients struggle to accept the reality of a chronic illness that demands lifelong treatment, or to sustain the daily habits such care demands. Life is a series of lessons, and each decision today writes the next chapter tomorrow – a truth that requires maturity to embrace. Much like raising a family, or building a career, recovery unfolds in chapters, each demanding patience and resilience.
My practice is deeply personal to me, and each patient is unique. It is a joy and honor to share in the unfolding chapters of their lives, celebrating resilience and growth. As a Suboxone doctor, I share the richness of each patient’s life.
I am a psycho-pharmacologist. I approach Suboxone dosing with precision and care. I keep a detailed Excel files on each patient’s dose of Suboxone over time, reviewing their patterns across months to years. Much like adjusting insulin, I dose Buprenorphine to their clinical benefit. However, with sensitivity to the rhythms of each patient’s life, I give each patient enough Buprenorphine, but not more than what they need. Too much Buprenorphine can place you at very real risks in your future.
I have also seen patients in corporate and public sector settings with addictions, gaining insight into the many paths people take. Being a Suboxone doctor, if done well, is a lifetime study of one’s patients.

Lifelong Scholar
As part of my medical practice, I continuously advance my expertise in both general internal medicine and the sub-specialty of addiction medicine. My curiosity is fueled by the belief that excellent patient care begins with truly knowing the individual – not just their illness, but their story.
My training in addiction medicine has been shaped by courses through the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. To stay current in internal medicine, I pursue postgraduate education through Harvard Medical School. I also broaden my perspective through advanced studies in philosophy and artificial intelligence at Stanford Online, and in management at leading universities including Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, and Case Western Reserve.
I value the chance to keep learning not only from institutions, but from the lived experience of patients who trust me with their stories. Science offers precision; my patient’s story offer wisdom. I strive to hold both.
This continuous education allows me to bring the best of modern science, thoughtful decision-making, and personalized care to every patient I serve.

Beyond the Exam Room — Who I Am
I come from a long family tradition of education and service, where books and ideas shaped us, but so did compassion and community. My father served in the OSS during World War II before becoming a professor and department chair at Kent State University. I was raised on a university campus, surrounded by books and teaching.
I am the father of three grown children — two engineers and one attorney. One of my sons also served as a U.S. Army officer in Afghanistan, a reminder to me of the sacrifices families make in service. I have also learned deeply from the women in my life, who have shown me the strength it takes to balance care for others with care for yourself – and the grace required to keep showing up, even when the weight feels heavy.
Outside of medicine, I am a lifelong scholar of history and management, an early adopter of AI in medical practice, and a daily reader of the Wall Street Journal. I continue to pursue postgraduate education, both in medicine and beyond, because I believe a doctor should never stop learning.
